Speed Enforcement Lune Valley

Good evening,

Today, your local Neighbourhood Police Officers conducted speed enforcement in the Lune Valley.  This was following concerns raised by local residents, particularly around motorcyclists speeding through the north side of the valley.

We conducted the speed enforcement in numerous villages including Halton, Arkholme, Whittington and Cowan Bridge.

I am glad to report that the majority of vehicles were driven well below the speed limit whilst travelling through the villages.  However, a number were caught going too fast. These drivers were stopped and depending on their speed and driving history, will either be offered a speed awareness course, issued a fixed penalty notice (with points) or summonsed to court.

All those caught speeding were drivers of cars/vans.

The fastest speed recorded was 43 MPH whilst on a restricted road (30 MPH zone).

We will continue to enforce the speed limit going forward, especially as the weather improves and more people like to get out for a drive/ride.
